Since 1985, Tucson 12 staff has been recognized for its work with over 100 technical and programming awards from Emmy’s to the New York Film Festival. Staff is proud to have won the prestigious NATOA “Station of the Year” for “Excellence in Government Programming” award ten times out of the past 15 years. October 2009 TUCSON 12 BRINGS HOME EMMYS Tucson 12, the City’s television station, has once again been recognized for its programming excellence as the recipient of eight Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards. This is the third year in a row Tucson 12 has garnered multiple awards. This year’s awards include an Emmy for My City, a program featuring a “behind-the-scenes” look at Mayor Bob Walkup. Photographer-editor Mitch Riley dominated the regional competition and was recognized with six Emmys for his work. Television Production Manager Jennifer McKinney said “I feel privileged to work with such a talented group of people who tell the positive stories about City government and the people of Tucson. It’s a team effort…and I have a super team.” The Emmy Awards are part of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which recognizes and rewards excellence in broadcasting throughout the country. Tucson 12 received Emmys in the following categories: Historic/Cultural Program or Special: "Daniel" - Mitch Riley Politics/Government Program or Special: My City - Gene Einfrank and Mitch Riley Sports-News single Story, Series or Feature: "Happy" - Mitch Riley Magazine Program-Feature/Segment: "Kodak Cowboy" - Jennifer McKinney and Dan Sheffer Public/Current/Community Affairs-Program or Special: Conexion 12 - Dulce Mascareno and Lety Bazurto-Mathews Editor-Program (non-news): "Daniel" - Mitch Riley Photographer-Program (non-news): "Daniel" - Mitch Riley and "Double Check" - Mitch Riley TUCSON 12 NAMED GOVERNMENT TELEVISION STATION OF THE YEAR FOR THE 10th TIME For the tenth time in the past fifteen years, the City’s television station received a national award for “Excellence in Government Programming.” The National Association of Telecommunications Officers & Advisors (NATOA) named Tucson 12 as government station of the year. The award honors the station’s year-round variety of programming quality. Tucson 12 received a total of six awards, at the 24th annual NATOA conference held earlier this month in New Orleans, Louisiana. NATOA awards recognize excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming developed by municipal agencies. This year, NATOA received more than 810 entries submitted by local governments in more than 21 states across the country and Canada. "I am so proud of Channel 12 winning the top award once again. To win this award 10 times is an incredible accomplishment and says so much about the quality of programming Channel 12 consistently delivers, “ said City Chief Information Officer Ann Strine. These awards honor Tucson 12’s production quality, variety of programming and individual achievement. Tucson 12 received seven regional EMMYS last week, as well as 12 awards from NATOA last month, including second-place for “Excellence in Government Programming.” The awards recognize the best in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming, regionally and nationally. Tucson 12 won awards in the following categories: EMMY- Arts/Entertainment-Program Feature Public/Current/Community Affairs- Historic/Cultureal-News Single Story Photographer-Program (non-news) Informational/Instructiona Magazine Program/Special Photographer-Short Form (Promos, PSA's, Commercials, opens, etc) NATOA- NATOA Programming Impact Award Documentary/Social Issues: Excellence in Government Programming: Tucson 12 also received six 2nd place awards, one 3rd place award, and one honorable mention from NATOA. October 2007 TUCSON 12 WINS BIG AT NATOA AND THE EMMYS Tucson 12, the City’s television station, received a total of 16 awards last week from the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (EMMY) and from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers & Advisors (NATOA). These awards honor Tucson 12’s production quality, variety of programming and individual achievement. Tucson 12 received three regional EMMYS, as well as eight first-place awards from NATOA.
